Meg Callahan Quilts

Meg Callahan's quilts are for some reason...awe-inspiring. The juxtaposition between simplicity and complexity make them just eye-popping. I love the geometry, simple colors, and historical influence.

I will be saving a spot on my wall for one of them (and in the meantime learning to make quilts). And now, I will let your eyes and minds explore these beautiful patterns.

Thanks to DesignSponge for the find!

Film: Objectified

Just got around to watching 'Objectified' last night, and I thought it was great. It really confirmed and fueled my newly uncovered interest in design (It's always been there, I've just never thought about it through the lens of 'design' until recently). It was made by Gary Hustwit (who also made 'Helvetica'...another really great documentary) in 2009. Again, it featured a soundtrack by group El Ten Eleven, one of my favorite loop machine-centric groups out there.

This film does a great job conveying the fact that everything man-made around us had to be designed by someone, and explores the motivation behind why things are designed the way they are. Check it out if you haven't already. It's currently streaming on Netflix and may, just may, be available at your local library.
